Anne Montera has over 25 years of nursing experience in Public Health, Labor and Delivery, Patient Safety/Quality Improvement and EMS coordination in urban, rural, community and remote settings with the use of telemedicine. Ms. Montera is the Co-Creator and Public Health Partner for the first National Community Paramedic Pilot Program in rural Eagle, CO. Anne and Chris Montera developed the first comprehensive and foundational Community Paramedicine curriculum based on ten core modules, helping to prepare Community Paramedics (CP) for IBSC advanced certification which has been recently updated in the 4th edition.
Ms. Montera served as the Executive Director for the Central Mountains RETAC, supporting a 6-county EMS and trauma region in Colorado, as Senior VP of Quality at Ready Responders where she developed and implemented a quality matrix, demonstrating cost savings and health impact and as a Community Paramedicine Advisor for Pulsara. Since a 2015 nomination by the American Nurses Association, representing four million nurses nationally and an appointment by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to represent public health nursing, Ms. Montera has served as Vice Chair on the National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (NEMSAC) where she has authored or co-authored numerous advisories for federal EMS partners related to community paramedicine. Since 2014, Anne has been on the Advisory Board of EMS World and since 2013, she has been President of the Board of First Few Moments, a non-profit. Since 2011, Ms. Montera has been a private consultant working with several states, including Idaho, California, Colorado, Minnesota and Nevada and local government to educate and implement community paramedicine programs.
Anne Montera holds a BSN from Bethel College and a Master of Health Leadership degree from Western Governors University. In 2011, Ms. Montera received the Colorado Nightingale Luminary Award for Innovation for the Eagle County Community Paramedicine program, and in 2019, the Colorado EMS Region of the Year award.
