CHW CORE COMPETENCY TRAINING

This 80-hour course, taught by expert, culturally fluent trainers, fully aligns with the Massachusetts CHW Board of Certification standards and the CHW Core Consensus Project.  We devote 64-hours to the 10 core competencies listed below with the remaining 16 hours for special topics (see Continuing Education) selected by your organization based on your program’s particular needs.

SUCCESSFUL SUPERVISION

This two-day, 13-hour course, allows CHW supervisors to learn valuable skills to effectively engage and champion CHWs, respond better to challenges and improve cultural fluency while networking with other CHW supervisors.

These 6-hour continuing education courses are taught by expert, culturally fluent trainers and can be conducted in-person or via teleconferencing. Courses are listed below.

METHODOLOGY

Whether in-person, via teleconferencing or as a self-paced hybrid, our courses reflect expert design in community health and interactive pedagogy, resulting in a highly participatory learning environment.  Courses are taught by seasoned, culturally fluent CHWs and community health professionals.  Consistent with the principles of adult learning, instructors utilize various approaches to accommodate all learning styles from case studies to self-reflection exercises to group work and role-playing.  Trainers afford each learner the opportunity to dialogue and ask questions in order to fully access and connect with the work of community health.  With online instruction, an additional facilitator is included for technical assistance which includes whiteboard scribing, breakout rooms, polls & surveys and word cloud exercises.
